    It works!

"I had good vocabulary but struggled to formulate sentences. Now I can use the past, present and future in a conversation. It may not be perfect but I can see it is appreciated when I speak Spanish"

    A good base!

"I had done courses before but was unable to structure a sentence. In my latter conversations with Rob my Spanish flowed really well and I was able to talk in past and future tense. "

  • Courses take Forever

We all know people who studied a language for 4 or more years, even at university level, who still can't actually SPEAK THE LANGUAGE. Maybe that's you. Is what you learnt actually USEFUL to you in the REAL WORLD? Shouldn't that be the point of learning a language? There's a much faster way if you remove all the fluff.

  • Too much Grammar

They teach the Present Perfect, Present Progressive, and Past Participles. WHO CARES! Teach me to SPEAK SPANISH please. I don't want to waste my precious time learning Grammar before I can learn Spanish. Keep it SIMPLE.

  • No Conversation

The goal should be to have a conversation, not to pass some written exam no one will see. We should be learning the most common words and phrases used daily, in order of priority. Then having practice conversations daily.

  • You moved to Spain

You've lived in Spain for a years, or just recently moved and want to learn to use the language. This is by far the best way to learn to speak fast.

  • You've tried learning Spanish before

You may have learned it at school, taken some courses, or even had a private tutor, but you still can't speak Spanish. This WILL UNBLOCK YOUR SPANISH in 20 Days

  • You need to communicate

At the shops, on the phone, in the restaurant or picking up the kids from school. You feel stupid not being able to speak Spanish and it's affecting your daily life.

But could I really do this?

Yes you can. Here's why... Because the course focuses on only what is important (the most used 200 or so words). So there's not that much material to memorise. In fact it's more about getting comfortable using the same words in different situations, and for that reason there is a lot of time built in just for review and practice of what was learnt in previous days. 20 days is more than enough and you may even be having conversations longer than 10 minutes before the end.

Just look at the transformation below. If these people can do it so can you!

FAQs

Who is this course for?

The course is best suited to people who have moved to a Spanish speaking country and had contact with the language. People who want to unblock their Spanish and be able to start speaking when they go out to shops and restaurants, or when having to talk on the phone.

15 minutes in the morning, 30 minutes at lunch, 15 minutes in the afternoon. In the evening a either practice for 30 minutes or practice speaking to a Spanish person

Do I need to know any Spanish before I start this course?

The course covers everything from beginner to a 10 minute conversation. However, it is really targeted at those who live in a Spanish country who have have contact with the language. Many people have tried a course before but found it too much, too complicated, or too much grammar and did not end up being able to speak Spanish. This is the ideal type of person to take this course.

Can I really learn this in just 20 days?

Yes you can. Here's why... Because the course focuses on only what is important (the most used 200 or so words) there is not too much material to memorise. In fact it's more about getting comfortable using the same words in different situations, and for that reason there is a lot of time built in just for review and practice of what was learnt in previous days. 20 days is more than enough and you may even be having conversations longer than 10 minutes before the end.

How is the course delivered to me?

A video at the beginning of each section walks you through what to do and explains the next concept clearly. The words you need for each day are provided on as a cheat sheet PDF. You then practice the material using Anki App, a well known flash card app which provides you with practices words and sentences. Anki uses A.I to create 'spaced repetition', scientifically proven as the best way to commit new words and phrases to memory. When you struggle with a phrase, Anki will test you on it more often, thereby strengthening your weeknesses and improving your Spanish. It's also really fun, and provides the voice of a native Spanish speaker so you can you can train your ear at the same time.

Do you give refunds?

Yes, of course. There's no risk to you. If within the first 10 days after buying the course, you feel this is not worth it, I'll send you your money back.

Why is this better than other courses?

This is completely different to any Spanish course out there because it's the only one that promises an quantifiable end result, that you will be able to have a 10 minute conversation, something tangible you will be able to take away. To do this it focuses only on the most important words used for everyday common conversations, and on conversation practice. Other Spanish courses focus on grammar and theory, and people can spend years on these courses without actually learning to speak.

What do I need to be able to do this?

An internet connection and a smartphone. You must also download the Anki app to review the flashcards. This app is not associated with me, but it's A.I 'spaced repetition' is the best way to commit new words and phrases to memory. There is a free and paid version of Anki. You can use the free version, but if you want to get the paid version it's €29 for a year.

Is this appropriate for all ages?

The course is best suited to people over the age of 13.

Does it need to be 20 consecutive days?

No. In fact I recommend Monday to Friday and weekends off. This gives you the advantage of using sleep and rest to commit new ideas to memory. However if you take an extended break midway through the 20 days, say for 3 weeks plus, you may have forgotten too much and need to to start again.

Meet your instructor

Hi. My name's Rob. I was born and raised in South Africa. When I was 10 I took my first overseas trip. I flew into Belgium and was enchanted by this strange new language hitting my ears. Years later at 19, I went to Germany and experienced that same pull. German felt like a secret code I couldn't stop myself from trying to break.

I decided this is all I wanted to do and chose to major in Linguistics at University of South Africa.

The trouble with language learning

Over the years I spent time learning many languages. But I found a massive problem, I know you've found it too. Learning a language is overwhelming, and no matter how many courses I've done, they never have a clear start and end point, a goal, or even an organised structure. A new language just seems like an ocean of words and nobody seems to know where to start. I was determined to solve this problem for my own language learning endeavours. To systemise the learning process into a logical process, starting from the most important bits to know, to the least important, with milestones and goals along the way.

300 words

English, as an example, has 170,000 words. But most native speakers only know around 35,000 of them. That means that fluency in a language cannot mean knowing all of it. It must mean knowing how to say what you need to say.

What's interesting is we only use 1,000 different words on a given day. They craziest part is that each day the same 300 words make up 80% of our conversations. And inside these, the 80/20 rule applies again, and then again, meaning less than 20 words are used far more frequently than the rest.

So here's the question: Why does Duolingo start with words like Tortoise and Carrot?

Language is like an Onion

Once I understood that language is made up of a core of the 20 most used words, followed by a layer of 80 less used words, followed by 100 less used words etc. everything changed for me. I realised there is a systematic approach if you know exactly what to learn and what to leave out, and then exactly how to practice combining those foundational 300 words to be able to understand and use them at will.

Trying out the secret method

By this time I had moved to Spain and learnt the language fairly fast. When I had this system all figured out I decided to tell my English speaking friends I could take them from beginner to a 10 minute conversation in 10 days. They all said "sign me up", and I took them through it. We realised during the process that 10 days was a bit quick if you don't have language learning experience, and they agreed to push through a little longer. As we approached the 20 day mark, I began to see a radical transformation. And by the end, they really could, in fact, have a 10 minute conversation (even though this meant speaking slowly). I was really proud of their hard work, and to be able to give them this ability they could use for the rest of their lives.
